About Us...

At St. Charles Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) our purpose is:

To know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and to make his love and grace know to the world.

We live out this purpose in a variety of ways:

1. We worship God weekly as a community, and we partake of the Lord’s Supper each time we worship. People prefer different styles of worship so we offer both contemporary and traditional elements in separate worship services.
2. We care about others, especially our neighbors in need. We understand ourselves to be God’s hands and feet in the world. So, we actively seek to serve our neighbors: locally, nationally, and internationally. A significant part includes being actively involved in the local community of New Town.
3. We share our faith and hope to influence others to follow Jesus. Jesus instructed his disciples/apostles (including us) to go to the people of all nations and make them his disciples. We take seriously this call to share the message of God’s love as shown through Jesus, the Christ.
4. We spend time together. One thing you’ll notice right away when you visit us is that we like to spend time together. Whether it’s a tailgate party, a picnic, a meal after worship, an ice cream social, gathering together to pray, or simply our weekly fellowship time with donuts and coffee, we enjoy the presence of our brothers and sisters in Christ! Our lives and souls are blessed by these connections to one another.
5. We learn and ask questions and we urge others to be active learners–children, youth and adults. We’re all travelers on our journey of faith; and, as travelers, we’re always discovering more about our faith. We learn about God’s mighty acts and deeds in the past, so we can understand how God is active in our world today and how we can be a part of it. We must be open to learn more about how we can connect with and relate to God.
